Preparing for Daylight Savings with Kids

Parents, WE'VE GOT THIS!!

I remember when I had my first little one and daylight savings snuck up on us. I felt SO unprepared. I didn’t want to feel that way going into the next Daylight Savings, so I googled and Pinterested, and searched allllll the things to find a system that worked best for us.

Depending on how busy the week is leading up to Daylight Savings, our house will start prepping 4 days before or 2 days before!!

I personally like the 4 days before by starting 15 minutes earlier at a time. It doesn’t seem as abrupt, and the kids seem to adjust pretty well, BUT, life is busy. So we’ve done 2 days before too and started bedtime 30 minutes earlier and then the next night 30 minutes earlier again. It's all about finding what works best for your family!

Here are some tips to help you prepare for Daylight Savings with kids:

4 Days Before Daylight Savings:

Day 1 - 15 minutes earlier bedtime

Day 2 - 15 minutes earlier than night before

Day 3 - 15 minutes earlier than night before

Day 4 - 15 minutes earlier than night before

2 Days Before Daylight Savings:

Day 1 - 30 minutes earlier bedtime

Day 2 - 30 minutes earlier than night before

Remember, it may take a few days for your child to fully adjust to the time change. Be patient and understanding if they have trouble falling asleep or wake up earlier than usual. Stick to the new schedule and they will eventually adapt.

So, parents, don't stress about Daylight Savings. With a little preparation and some adjustments to your child's routine, you can make the transition smoother for everyone. Remember, you've got this!
